The Spanish rider confirms that his future is in WorldSBK and he explains that he has an offer to renew his contract with Ducati, but that he is also talking with Honda for 2020

In a recent interview made during the program Radioestadio del Motor, that went on air on Spanish radio station Onda Cero, Alvaro Bautista (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati) has reviewed his 2019 season in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. His season has been marked by both his outstanding performance in the first rounds of the year, winning 11 consecutive victories, but also by the bad results he made in the most recent rounds, and that made him drop down in the general standings with a notable disadvantage on Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK).

“We have to remain positive and look forward. Whatever happened, happened” said the rider from Talavera de la Reina who thinks that the reason behind his recent crashes comes from a combination of circumstances. “There are still a lot of races remaining and lots of points still to assign” points out the Spaniard, who recognizes that things have now gotten more complicated in his championship title charge.

Speaking about his future in WorldSBK, Bautista explains: “Ducati offered me to continue with them for the next two seasons, and we are talking about some contract details. Anyway, we have not signed anything yet, but the intention is to continue as they are happy with me and I am happy with them. But still we haven’t agreed on the conditions, and we are fighting a little with them”.

The Spanish rider also revealed that he has an offer from Honda to join them for 2020: “Honda wants to do the same as Ducati this year. They want to enter with a strong bike and win the World Championship title. So, yes, they spoke with me, and they explained to me their project. No, I didn’t expect that Honda wanted to enter with such a big effort in World Superbike”. Closing the interview, he jokes, “Always leave the door open…”
